Covenant Community Care

We are a community health center in Detroit that provides medical, dental, behavioral health and eye care to over 20,000 people every year regardless of a person's ability to pay. Our mission is to show and share the love of God, as seen in the good news of Jesus Christ, by providing integrated, affordable and quality health care to those who need it most.

Covenant Community Care provides primary health care, eye care, oral health care, behavioral health care and substance abuse treatment services to over 20,000 people at six locations around Detroit. Over 37% of our patients have no health insurance and nearly 50% have Medicaid as their source of health coverage. Regardless of how little money a person has or what kind of health insurance they have, our doctors, dentists, nurses and therapists fulfill our mission to show and share the love of God, as seen in the good news of Jesus Christ, by providing integrated, affordable and quality health care to those who need it most.

Covenant Community Care was founded nearly twenty years ago by Dr. Kathy Kleinert and several committed volunteers as a free clinic to serve people without health insurance in Detroit. Our first clinic was on West Grand Boulevard in southwest Detroit. In partnership with Southwest Solutions, Beaumont Health, Ascension Health and Trinity Health and numerous local funders including the McGregor Fund, the Flinn Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, the Metro Health Foundation and many others we have grown to serve over 20,000 people each year as a federally qualified health center. We still have a community based board of directors of very committed residents of the Detroit area who strive to ensure that every person in need of primary health care, eye care, oral health care and integrated behavioral health and substance abuse services in our community is able to see a caring clinician and get the help they need regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
