St. Vincent's Mobile Health Outreach Ministry does more than provide free healthcare to those who need it most. We go above and beyond to treat your family, like our family.
Jose's family fled from Venezuela to America just a few months ago. Their volatile county was no longer a safe place for their children to live, so when they won the green card lottery, they left everything, to live in a country where only one parent knew the language. And St. Vincent's was there to help them.
They helped us to translate some parts of the process with my wife in Spanish, was so amazing because always my wife is waiting that I translate for her. And we are talking about the health of the children.
At St. Vincent's Mobile Health Outreach Ministry, each patient becomes a part of our family, working to heal your body, mind and soul. At St. Vincent's we provide More Than Medicine.
Rooted in the loving ministry of Jesus as healer, we commit ourselves to serving all persons with special attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. Our Catholic health ministry is dedicated to spiritually centered, holistic care, which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. We are advocates for a compassionate and just society through our actions and our words.
St. Vincent's HealthCare is a faith-based, nonprofit health system celebrating more than 102 years of compassionate service to the most vulnerable citizens of Northeast Florida. Founded in Jacksonville in 1916 by the Daughters of Charity to care for the sick and the poor, St. Vincent's has remained a major healthcare provider for the 1.4 million residents of Northeast Florida, especially the underserved and uninsured. St. Vincent's is made up of 3 hospitals, a long-term skilled nursing facility, more than 70 primary care physicians, nearly a dozen medical laboratories, prescription services, and the award winning Mobile Health Outreach Ministry that touches the lives of thousands. In fiscal year 2017, St. Vincent's provided more than $73 million in charity care and community benefit. From our humble beginnings, to our current status as a leading regional health system, St. Vincent's provides quality, compassionate care to people of all ages, incomes and faiths.
In 1991, St. Vincent's saw a need to provide better healthcare access to the poor. Our innovative solution: provide fully staffed doctors-offices-on-wheels to deliver free acute and preventive medical care to men, women, children and families who are the poorest of the poor in Northeast Florida. Today, our five fully equipped mobile units are each staffed with a full-time physician, nurse, driver/EMT and medical assistant, which is operational year round. Last year we celebrated 25 years of Mobile Health providing faithful service to those who are struggling most in our community. It remains the only mobile provider of free healthcare services in the region and because of this program, thousands who would otherwise have no access to healthcare are beneficiaries of expert, compassionate medical care, disease management, and preventive health education.
Through extensive partnerships and collaborative relationships across Northeast Florida, Mobile Health provides: primary health care; school physicals; immunizations; flu season coverage; vision, dental and hearing screenings; blood pressure checks; hemoglobin screenings; diagnoses and treatment of medical conditions; referrals for specialty care; and access to prescriptions for all men, women and children at no cost. Mobile Health also goes above and beyond providing outreach services such as delivering food, clothing, medical supplies and medications to those most in need in our community. We do this because St. Vincent's Mobile Health Outreach Ministry is more than medicine. A vote for St. Vincent's is a vote for the continuation of these healthcare services and beyond for those who would otherwise have no access to care.
