Beth Harp, Executive Director: Hi, my name is Beth Harp, and I'm the Executive Director of Kids' Meals here in Houston, Texas. And what we do is right here in our kitchen is we have volunteers that prepare healthy meals for preschoolers who are too young for free breakfast and free lunch. And they prepare them in our kitchens everyday, and we deliver out close to 3,000 meals everyday for a third of our kids, that's their only meal of the day. We have six vans, and we have drivers - we call them our Hope Providers - because we provide hope. And they put a meal right in the hands of a child. Catarina Gutierrez, Operations Manager: I just love the mission, yes sir. Did you see the smiles on their faces?
Beth: You feed a child for less than $2 a day, and that's our all-in cost.
Kids' Meals, Inc.
Kids' Meals is the nation's only free healthy meal delivery program in the country aimed at ending childhood hunger.
Kids' Meals delivers free, healthy meals directly to the homes of preschool-aged children living in extreme poverty. We also deliver bags of fresh produce and pantry staples twice a week for their families in addition to giving them access to essential information on resources to help break the poverty cycle.
Since 2006, Kids' Meals has delivered 5.5 million free meals in Harris County.
