Within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, they would literally tell us that they feel safe, sometimes for the first time in a long time.
We saw a significant spike in activity and we ended the month at about 1200 text messages. I feel like we can just reach a lot more people.
What I see for safe house is to continue to grow to continue to get our word out to the community to build our partnerships and take our kids to new experiences throughout our community.
I found out that there was this thing called human trafficking happening here in our county and it floored me, I had no idea that this was occurring here.
So the more I started learning about it the more interest I took in it.
From our youth in emergency shelters and intervention programs to our street outreach and our work against human trafficking.

It's not easy being a teen. Peer pressure, family problems, despair mounting, thinking that your only option is the street or the grave. Not so fast...SafeHouse of Riverside is here to ease the crisis in your teen life. Located in the heart of Riverside, accessible from any Safe Place location or Riverside Transit Agency bus, you can get the help you need, get hooked up with teen counselors to bring on the positive, and steer yourself away from life as a street youth.
We get your challenges and want to help prevent additional crisis in your life! Our goal at SafeHouse of Riverside is to get you back on track and living the life you deserve...safe, happy, and healthy enjoying your teen years instead of feeling crushed, abused, or lost in the world. Our emergency shelter, youth events, and programs provide you with the opportunity to be you, let out your frustrations and fears, and learn how to deal with the pressures and enjoy the triumphs of being a teen.

Emergency shelter
- We serve ages 11-17
- We provide counseling
- Wrap around services
- Crisis intervention
- We serve ages 18-21
- We provide life skills training
- Education assistance
- Employment assistance
- Mental health outreach that provides healthy coping skills to youth
- Support groups
- Peer to peer activities and so on
- 24 hr text line that connects youth to a licensed therapist, completely free and completely anonymous.
- Allows youth to go to any safe place site; for example: Police departments, Fire Departments, Libraries, and hop on any RTA bus, and tell staff they need a safeplace and they will be transported to our shelter, no questions asked.
- We provide Crisis based intervention on the streets
- Shelter, showers, and rehab referrals
- Educate the community on the local homeless resources throughout the county
- And we partner up with the county and city of Riverside to house the most chronically homeless in Riverside
Operation SafeHouse has provided core essential services to runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth in Riverside County for twenty-seven years.
