EmpowHERment.
Who are we?
We are a Charlotte based organization whose mission is to empower girls and women to become community leaders through mentorship, talent development and advocacy. We are intentionally creating a stronger development pipeline to empower female leaders.
Why?
Statistics tells us:
Over 60% of girls report no connection to women leaders in our community.
7 in 10 girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way in becoming a leader and those same girls fear pursuing leadership opportunities
And women are still underrepresented in every major industry and business facet and only making $0.77 to every dollar a man makes.
EmpowHERment is committed to connecting a diversity of girls and women leaders in Charlotte with access, resources and exposure that strengthen the female leadership pipeline.
EmpowHERment, Inc. is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Charlotte, NC. We are intentionally creating a stronger development pipeline to inspire female leaders. When conducting our programs, we have a local focus but a global impact.
EmpowHERment focuses on empowering a continuous network of girls and women to be leaders in their community through mentorship, talent development, and advocacy. Our mentoring program pairs girls in grades 6-12 in Charlotte and the surrounding areas with a supportive professional woman in their community to serve as their mentor. Together they build a talent development portfolio and advocacy platform through a 12-month curriculum that is supported by our community partnership events. Our mentoring program is unique because it provides a reciprocal growth opportunity where both the mentee and mentor realize their full potential and strengthen their voice as leaders.
EmpowHERment's roots were established organically through a group of girls and women who sought to learn from and empower one another. A handful of leaders set out to create a movement that would transform the way females defined, developed and defended themselves as leaders. The first EmpowHERment Summit was held in 2010 with dozens of women and girls of all backgrounds in the Charlotte area. Together, they learned skills to serve as the building blocks for their talents, affirming each other and strengthening our community. Today, EmpowHERment leads year-round mentoring programs, and the Annual Summit still serves as our cornerstone event.
