Every day, there are millions of people in poverty who are in serious need of support to get through another day. Whether homeless, hungry, addicted, or in need of mental health support, these issues affect their daily lives.
Hi, I am Carole Bailey, CEO of East End Cooperative Ministry. I am passionate about this work because the inequity of life can affect any one of us at some point, and our services are crucial to saving and changing lives. Here at EECM, we work to protect those who feel abandoned or lost. We provide the basics of food, shelter, and other survival necessities that impact the health and well-being of all who are affected by hunger, homelessness, disparities in health, drug addiction, and unemployment.
We provide programs that lend themselves to positive transformation and healthy outcomes. When there is hope, there is true purpose in life, and that is what we would like to give each and every person who comes to East End Cooperative Ministry.
East End Cooperative Ministry is an interfaith human services organization located in the East Liberty neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh that is devoted to helping individuals suffering the effects of poverty.
We provide a wide array of services to those in need in Pittsburgh. It is our overarching goal to be a partner with the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and the federal government to help eradicate poverty utilizing evidence-based strategies to create a community of opportunity.
Key points of emphasis include:
For nearly 50 years, East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) has been a community leader at the forefront of addressing the issues that impact our area's most at-risk, disadvantaged and underserved populations, and implementing programs to help these populations become self-sufficient. From its beginnings as an interfaith coalition of 18 congregations, EECM has addressed the issues of food insecurity and the need for shelter. Over the years, we have expanded our outreach with additional programs that serve disadvantaged youth, and programs that support workforce development for both youth and adults. Today, we are proud to be considered an important community anchor not only in Pittsburgh's East End, but throughout the City of Pittsburgh. We have been recognized for our service in meeting many of the fundamental needs of those impacted within our local communities, and have become more deeply rooted in our mission to meeting these ongoing needs.
