For over 40 years, Maternity Care Coalition has empowered parents as their children's first teachers. Through direct service, research and advocacy, we strive for an equitable future where all families are healthy and connected and where all children thrive and are ready to learn.
"I've taken nutrition classes, breastfeeding classes."
"Staying here has been really amazing because they teach me-how to raise him, how to be a good mom for his development. And this is really important for me."
"I have been fortunate to work with a parent to deliver her baby and it was the greatest experience that I've had since working here."
At Maternity Care Coalition, we know that having a baby is always a big deal. We envision a future where women don't die during childbirth, where men stand up for breastfeeding rights, and where all children have access to affordable, high-quality early education. Will you join us?
Since 1980, Maternity Care Coalition has assisted more than 125,000 families throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, focusing on neighborhoods with high rates of poverty, infant mortality, health disparities, and changing immigration patterns. We know a family's needs change as they go through pregnancy and their child's first years, and we offer a range of services and programs for every step along the way.
Maternity Care Coalition supports parents as their children's first teacher through individualized programming. All of MCC's work, whether direct service, advocacy, research or capacity-building, supports our vision of empowerment and equity for women, children and families. We intentionally focus our programming on supporting families and improving health outcomes. Our Advocates deliver comprehensive parenting education, provide support at perinatal doctor's appointments, and distribute formula and diapers as needed.
At MCC, we strive to create a world where each child is welcomed, where each person is nurtured and achieves one's full potential, where parents and caregivers are empowered to care for themselves and their children, and where communities understand and act upon the imperative to provide systematic support.
Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) was founded in 1980 by community members concerned with the appalling rate of infant mortality and morbidity in the Philadelphia region. After developing strong community relationships, MCC shifted its focus to support the entire family unit and opened its first MOMobile site in 1987. Today, there are eleven MCC programs, including Early Head Start, Healthy Families America and E.L.E.C.T. programs, throughout Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Delaware counties.
Maternity Care Coalition's mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families, and enhance school readiness for children 0-3. In 2020, we are proud to celebrate our 40th Anniversary and expand our reach throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and beyond.
